Mid Life Crisis & Country Music

Guys I need some help to kind of decipher whats going on. I generally love all types of music with a huge lean on R&B and somtimes even crunk up to the dirty south rap. Lately though Country music sounds so good.

The type of music I grew up listening my dad singing to on those long drives. I suddenly like the CMA's - Country Music Awards shows, at times I find myself switching to the country stations in the car & at home and have now downloaded some of the latest top country songs. These jams rock...

Brooks & Dunn, Reba McIntire, Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Sugarland, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw etc etc and the list is endless....

Someone please break it down for me....... its a phase right??? or I have turned the corner.....

Listen to Don't forget to Remember Me by Carrie Underwood, truly a gem......

I think to some extent that music reminds you of the security of the younger years when your folks were looking after you or maybe it's the way we turn into our parents when it comes to tastes and habits in our later years.
But as you said maybe it's just a phase and it will pass.

Its because all the other musicians [RnB, Rap] have sold their souls to the devil and their music just has become tacky, recycled and bogus..... I listen to country. They have stuck to their roots... and they dont curse up a storm....... they dont ask that we shake anything.... or that we snap anything.......

You're just opened to all kinds of music and that's a good thing. Many of us are somewhat limited and sometimes prejudiced when it comes to certain genres.

Acolyte - Security, possible. Good assessment.

Buff - Damn right, raps gone to the gutter while country still stories about their lives which is real and rich. Much like our one man guiter music.

Bess - True true, never grew up saying that is white, green, pink or black music. Music was music and loved it for what it was. It's not a wonder some black folk here will tell you that you ain't black enuff dawg. Simply because of the way we dress, talk and carry ourselves. Barriers that we need to break at least for our kids...

Hiyah Bubba!
Hehehe! Just think that you are well and truly hooked. I took a drive with a Country music fanatic freind of mine, from Milwaukee to Detroit.... let's just say as far as long hauls go it felt like we'd rented a paddle cannoe from Venice to Mombasa... by the return journey, I'll admit sadly... I was singing along to the dixie chicks... And man I feel like a woman was the catch phrase of the return journey!!!

Aikey - it creeps on you & before you even know it, you are humming away some deep country tune. & if you want some motivation they have some fine mama's too.

Uaridi - true true, the umri is up there and you have the papers to back it up. Not a bad thing though..

Couch tato - I already have the cowboy hat & boots. This just makes me a little more versatile, & can now get down with a broader spectrum of the la femme, if you know what I mean??? Playa playa....

I would conveniently duck when my Dad pulled out his Charley Pride and Jim Reeves records. Country music gives me a rash. I'm allergic.

Catching a vybe kumbukaing isn't a bad thing. I found some old disco tracks, **looks both ways and then whispers** by Donna Summer. My Dad was a disco freak too and I found myself enjoying "Radio" after about a 15 year drought.

But it might be deeper than that. Are you now buying wrangler jeans, knee high texan leather boots? Is that a stalk of Kentucky straw I see between your teeth?
