Say a lil prayer...

Hi everyone, I know we all make a call to the one high up above at one time or another. I will be walking in for a root canal in about an hour and am not excited at all...

The only upside is I will be able to eat & feel better on Christmas day..

Another reason for a prayer, of course, tis the season as we all celebrate the birth of christ.. And also as we usher in a new year and thank God for the past year.

So guys whichever way a lil prayer is in order...

Merry Christmas to you all my Friends..

And the Winner is?????

Came of a great weekend. Was out there with a bunch of friends playing AJUA in some friendly competition and came out tops... Finally the fruits of my hard work paying off in a big way...

I also put into fruition my newly found definition of SUCCESS "the Sum Total of all the Confident Decisions that you make." What a great definition..

During this Christmas season all I ask is for everyone to spread a cheer & a smile all around...

The Lone Soldier at Christmas..

T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE
MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.
I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN
THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.
>>
THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS.

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP.
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE.

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT
MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT.

Happy Jamhuri Day....

Happy Jamhuri day everyone.

Today is Kenya's Independence Day, a free sovereign Nation freed up from the British rule on 12th December 1963.

Jamhuri is a swahili word for "republic". Jamhuri Day is generally regarded as Kenya's most important holiday and is certainly the most widely celebrated, marked by numerous cultural festivities which celebrate the country's cultural heritage.

1st Blogversary...

Today marks exactly 1 year since I got into blogging. During this past year I have met many new friends with whom we’ve shared views & opinions on a myriad of both fun & serious issues that affect us from day-to-day. It has indeed been very entertaining and I’ve had a great time and enjoyed interacting with each one of you.

This is the 87th post just 13 shy of 100 entries meaning I've kept pretty busy & thanks to you.

In Celebrating this first anniversary, I’d like to dedicate this to a very special person who introduced me to the world of blogging. 3M, thanks for your patience & persistence, you’re a beautiful & kind person, a complete joy to be around.

A Special Salute to all of you and have a Merry Christmas..

Play Station Generation!!!!

Guys, I literally missed this bus altogether, now the big ticket item this Christmas besides the new Elmo is the PS 3. I have a PS 2 that I bought last year solely for the reason that I needed to have one in the house. I have used it twice for a total time of 20 minutes...

What happened to going to the arcades to play games. Growing up in Nairobi as a teeneager in the 80's, I used to go to Playland & Pop-in along Moi avenue. Those days we also had to keep an eye on Mr. Shaw the most feared plain clothes policeman who was on the lookout with any kids in school uniform playing machines... Those were the good old days and then walk over to Wimpy on Kenyatta Avenue and hang out with a coke & a burger, now that was a hot dating joint... Pop-In was below Burgerland across the street from the Big Barlcays Bank on Kenyatta Avenue...

So for all you new generation PS 2's & 3's.... enjoy and hope that laggards like us will catch on pretty quick...

A huge sign for the fast & changing times that we are living in today....

Happy Birthday DAD....

Today happens to be my Dad's birthday and I'd like to stop for a minute and wish him a very happy birthday.. My Dad has been very supportive of us (the kids) and has worked hard & sacrificed a lot to see that we are all happy & well educated. Now we are all strewn all over the world and we owe a lot to our Dad.

Mum is lucky too to have a guy like Dad, for they are hard to come by especially nowadays..

Happy Birthday to the Best Daddy in the world and we love you very much..
